He was coming towards her, his green eyes sparkling, his lips smiling. He reached his hand out to her. She extended her hand as well. Then suddenly, he was gone. Darkness swallowed him and they pulled him away from her, screaming. She saw terror come across his handsome face. She saw his arms waving wildly about in the air. Then she saw his body being pushed off a clift by a man whose face she can not see. His scream died as he made his way to the bottom of the clift. She heard a sickening crack as he hit the bottom. She cried and she screamed. But nothing could or would bring him back. *Plop*. Something was dripping. But what? She looked around in her dream, trying to find the source of the leakage. Then she woke up. *Plop*. There was still something dripping. She was still groggy and sleepy having just woked up. Her mind was not at its sharpest and her reaction was slow. A man was standing besides her. A tall man. Had to be Mulder. He laid a hand on her forehead. His hand felt cold, wet and clammy. She suddenly felt angry. After what he'd done to her earlier, he comes here in the middle of the night to touch her? She pulled away abruptedly. "Leave me alone." She muttered. He stood besides her, not budging an inch. Then slowly, he clasped his hand over hers. She pulled away again. "I said leave me alone." "What?" He whispered in a hoarse voice. "Your voice is scratchy. Caught a cold, didn't you?" She asked. "Have you gone outside and stood like a complete idiot in the rain? You're making a puddle in my room." "I- I just want to stand here and look at you." He whispered. "After what you did to me earlier? I hate you. Go away." She gritted her teeth angrily. She was a bit afraid that might tick him off and he would hit her again. But he didn't. "What did I do?" He asked. "What did you do? What did you do?!" She sat up in bed and stared at him in the dark. A sudden flash of lightening and she caught a good glimpse at his face. To her horror, the man standing before her was not Fox Mulder. It was another man, another face. It was those mesmerizing eyes that she had dreamed of every night she closed her eyes. It was that perfect nose, firm lips and adorable ears. It was the man that she had dreamed of. She threw her arms around the waist of the man and began kissing his face wildly. "Dana... I love you. Oh, god, Dana, I've missed you so much." He stared into her eyes in the dark. "Dana, I didn't kill your brother. Neither did David Rivers." "I know." She sobbed quietly. "I know who killed him now." "I'm so sorry." Krycek pressed his cheek against hers. "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have let this happened." "It's not your fault." "Yes, it is. If I had never came to you-" "Shut up. You were the best thing that ever happened to me." She told him and then kissed him. "I'm so sorry..." He murmured again. "Oh my god, Alex. Oh my god. Where the hell have you been?" She ran her hand over his body. It was covered with wet clothes. "Outside, standing in the rain like a complete idiot." He replied. "Not that." She laughed. "I've missed you so much. Oh..." She kissed him again on the mouth. "I've missed you more." He wrapped his arm around her waist. "How did you get in here? What are you doing here? What about the guards?" She asked. "Over the wall and in the window. I had a pal outside to keep the guards busy." Krycek kissed her back. "I had to see you again." Another flash of lightening. This time, he caught a good look at her face. And she saw the odd expression on his. Then she realized the bruises on her face. "Alex-" She began. "Did he hit you?" He interrupted. "Alex-" "He hit you! That god damn bastard!" Krycek jumped up and acted like he was going to charge out of the room, into Mulder's, and beat Mulder to a pulp. "No, Alex, please!" She grabbed his hand and pulled him to bed. "Please. Don't." The place was crawling with guards. Besides, Mulder slept with a gun under his pillow. Krycek wouldn't stand a chance. He was breathing heavily, angrily. She coaxed him gently to bed. She placed her hand up his shirt and felt his damp skin. "He hit you..." He muttered. He gently stroke her face. "It was an accident." Scully lied. No need to provoke him. "How can he hit a woman like you?" "Shh- don't talk." She whispered. She sat up and tugged off her shirt and laid on top of him. She reached her hands down to his jeans and unzipped it. "Are you sure this is such a good idea?" Krycek whispered between kisses. "He'll hear us." "I don't care." Scully breathed. "Do you?" Krycek shook his head a firm no. + + + + + + First he had heard an angry voice. Then crying. Then moaning. He shook his head and felt incredibly guilty. How hard had he hit her? Did it hurt so much that she'd woke up in the middle of the night moaning about it? Had to be the reason. He felt tempted to go to her and comfort her. But he knew that she'd just send him away. --What the hell is wrong with me?-- He groaned. Nothing was right. He sighed, clamped his hands over his ears and hoped not to hear her cry or moan again. He made himself promise he would never lay another hand on her again. + + + + + + 7: 14 AM Dana Scully slowly opened her eyes and smiled when she found Krycek sleeping soundfully next to her. She laid her head on his chest and ran her hand up and down his body until he woke up. "Morning." He yawned. "Morning." She said quietly. "You okay about last night?" He asked with concern. "I'm a big girl, Alex. I can handle things like this." She scoffed. "Just checking." He said then smiled slyly. "How was it?" "How was it?" Scully laughed. "You did not just ask me that." "Well, why not?" He asked curiously. "Because... you don't seem like the kind who asks that kind of stuff." "Why not?" Krycek asked again. "Because you just seem so..." Scully searched for the proper word. "...Confident." "Confident? Honey, I'm anything _but_ confident. How confident do you think an one armed man can be?" "Well..." Scully reached up and kissed him. "You weren't bad... for an one armed man." "Gee, thanks." He laughed. "I love you." She said softly. Then suddenly began to cry. "What? Is loving me so painfully?" He said dramatically. "You hurt me." She responded. "I hurt you?" "You hurt me." She repeated. "5 months. You disappeared for 5 months. Without a word. Why did you have to be such a god damn asshole." "I thought it to be the best." Krycek answered. "I thought your life would be better without me interferring." "Well, you were wrong." She said. "Promise me never to leave me again?" "I promise I'll never leave you again." He repeated. "Good." She sighed. "Alex, you have to take me away from here. I'm... I'm scared of him now. Mulder's changed... he's... not like his oldself." "Do you love him?" Krycek asked. "I... well, maybe a long time ago." She sniffed. "But he changed. Now I don't know anymore. Now I'm just afraid of him." "I'll take you away from here." He promised. They heard footsteps and low voices outside the room. "What was that?" She sat up and listened intently for the voices. "Shit!" Krycek jumped out of bed and rapidly began to put on his clothes. The footsteps and voices were getting closer. "Oh, God..." Scully groaned. "This is kind of exciting, isn't it? Like Romeo and Juliet." "Shut up. They both ended up dead." Scully shuddered, thinking about her dream. "What's the matter?" Krycek asked with concern at Scully's expression. Scully considered for a moment telling him her dream. She decided against it, he didn't need to know. "Nothing. Just be careful." She kissed him again. A knock came from outside the door. "Eh... Mrs. Mulder?" The voice said. "It's Julie. Julie Marielle, the tennis coach Mr. Mulder hired to teach you guys tennis?" "I know who you are!" Scully replied. "And that's Ms. Scully, we're not married yet!" "Uh, Ms. Scully. Mr. Mulder said we have a tennis lesson this morning." "It's 7 in the morning!" Scully yelled. "I know, ma'am. But Mr. Mulder instructed me to-" "Go away!" Scully ordered. Footsteps scurried away from the door. "Ouch. That was mean." "Sorry." Scully said apologetically. "I panicked." "That's okay. I think I was a little bit turned on by that." Krycek smiled mischievously as he leaned down to give her another kiss. Scully sighed. "What?" "I... this is... wishful thinking..." Scully paused. "What?" "I was just thinking how great it would be if I can have children. Children that belonged to us." "Me? Mine?" Krycek was completely taken by surprise. "Something wrong?" "I... just never thought about a family before. But..." Krycek smiled. "That... sounds good." "But because of what they did to me, I can't..." "So? We'll... adopt." "No, it's not the same. I want to have kids of my own." "Well... if you pray hard enough, a miracle might happen." Krycek grinned. "Hmm... I wish." Scully whispered. Scully wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him back to bed for another session of hot kisses. During the whole time, she was seriously praying in her heart for a miracle. Somewhere along the middle, she fell asleep in his arm. When she woke back up again, they resumed their little activity, carrying it into the next step. The whole thing seemed to last only a minute until someone knocked on her door again. "Marielle, go away!" Scully yelled between kisses. "Scully?" Not Marielle. Mulder. "Mulder?!" Scully sat up and pulled together her shirt that Krycek was just beginning to unbutton again. "Shit." Krycek muttered silently. He jumped out of bed and began putting his clothes on _again_. "Scully, open the door." Mulder said. "Geez, Mulder, it's only 7." Scully replied. "7?! It's 10 O'Clock already!" "3 hours has passed?!" Scully exclaimed. "Scully!!" Mulder banged on the door. "Mulder, chill! Give a girl some time to dress!" "Like it's anything I haven't seen!" "Alex, go." Scully whispered. "And leave you here?" Krycek whispered back. "He'll hit you again!" "No, he won't! Leave!" "Scully, who's in there?" Mulder asked suspiciously. "No one!" Scully laughed nervously. "You're being paranoid!" "Then why won't you open the door?!" "I'm getting dressed!" Scully pushed her window open for Krycek. Krycek climbed half way out then turned back to give Scully a kiss. "Scully, open this fucking door right now!" Mulder barked. "Alright, alright!" Scully called. Krycek slid out the window just as Mulder kicked the door down. "SCULLY!!!" Mulder stood in the open door way, with the hinges broken. "Mulder, geez!" Scully folded her arms. "What the hell's wrong with you?" "He was here, wasn't he?" Mulder panted. "Who?" "YOU KNOW WHO!!!" Mulder dashed to the window and leaned over. He saw a figure running to the woods. "FUCK!!!!" "Mulder-" "Shut up, bitch!" Mulder screamed. "Fuck!" "Mulder, he couldn't have gotten in here, you got this place crawling with FUCKING GUARDS!!!" "SHUT UP!!!" Mulder ran his fingers through his hair angrily. "Damn it! I'm going to go kill the bastard!" "Mulder, Mulder, wait!!" Scully reached out to grab his arm but missed him by an inch. "Mulder!!" Mulder ignored her and ran straight out. + + + + + + Jeff Spender shivered as he pulled his coat together tight. He was sitting on a tree branch, making himself invisible to ones who might wander into his part of the forest. After providing a little distraction for the guards, allowing Krycek to sneak in, he stayed here and waited for Krycek. He wondered why he went through all that trouble for Krycek. He normally wasn't this nice to his friends. He saw Krycek running towards him a mile away. He climbed down the tree rapidly to greet Krycek. "Jeff!" Krycek was in front of him in no time. "Jeff, we gotta go. I think Mulder saw me." "Ah, shit, Alex!" Spender whined. "Great, now look what you got us into." "Jeff, I'm sorry, I'll buy you dinner, get you a new TV, get you tickets to the Knicks game- whatever, when and if we get out of here alive, okay?" "Well, gee, that's a promising thought." Spender muttered. "Where's the car?" "It's at the halfway shack." "Come on." Krycek tugged on Spender's sleeve then took off in the direction of the shack. Spender sighed and followed him. + + + + + + Mulder blindly ran outside waving a gun in his hand. He heard Scully call out behind him but he didn't bother to stop and answer. There was only one thing in his mind: kill Krycek. He didn't even see the brown head step into his way. Before he knew it, they were both on the ground. He jumped up quickly and pointed the gun at her, thinking it might be one of Krycek's companions. "Mr. Mulder!" The woman raised her hand to keep him from shooting. "It's me, Julie Marielle, the tennis coach you hired-" "I know who you are!" Mulder roared. "Then why are you pointing that gun at me?" "I don't know!" Mulder grabbed her shoulder. "Where'd he go?" "Where'd who go?" "The man!" "Man?" Marielle looked confused. "Uh... is he tall, handsome but only has one arm?" "That's the fucking bastard!" Mulder jumped up and down excitedly. "Where'd he go?!" "He went towards the wood-" Mulder didn't wait for Marielle to finish before he raced towards the direction of the woods. Marielle shooked her head and muttered then turned to go into the house. She bumped into another person running out. "Ms. Scully, it's Julie Marielle, the tennis-" "I know who you are!!!" Scully yelled. "Where is he?!" "Who?" "The man!" "Which one?" "Both of them!" "They went that way." Marielle pointed towards the direction of the woods. Without saying thanks, Scully pushed past Marielle and ran towards the direction that she pointed. "What the hell is wrong with these people?" Marielle muttered. "This ought to be good though." She turned and chased after them. + + + + + + Spender rolled down the side of the hill and landed in a soft patch of grass. Krycek rolled down behind him but landed in dirt. "You okay?" Spender asked with concern. "Dandy." Krycek groaned as he got up and dusted himself off. He spotted the Jeep sitting in front of a run down shack. "Keys." Spender patted his pockets for keys. "Uh..." Spender looked lightly embarrassed. "Alex..." "Damn it, Spender! You forgot the keys!" "I'm sorry, Alex, I swear I had them when I was in the tree." Spender whined. "They must have fallen out when I was climbing down the tree." "Ugh!" Krycek stormed to the Jeep. He bent down and picked up a huge rock with both hands off the ground. Grunting, he threw the rock into the Jeep window. "Hey!! That's my car!" "Tough. You forgot the keys." Krycek reached in and opened the door from the inside. Once in, he got into the driver's seat and concentrated on hot wiring the car. Spender leaned against the Jeep and stood watch. "I was up in that tree all night- and it was cold- while you were off fucking some woman." Spender mumbled. "Well, next time you can go fuck some woman and I'll stand watch in the trees." "I don't want to go fuck some woman." "That's right. You're gay." Krycek got zapped by a wire. "Shit!" He stuck his finger in his mouth then resumed hot wiring the car. "I'm not gay." Spender said. "Uh-huh." "I'm not!" Spender insisted. "Jeff, I don't really care. Are you keeping watch?" "Yes, I am." Spender said. Suddenly a gun shot rang out. The bullet hit the rear view mirror and shattered it. "Shit!" Krycek and Spender ducked down. "Damn it, Spender, I thought you said you were keeping watch!" "I was! That came out of nowhere!" Spender said. "Krycek, you fucking asshole!" Mulder hollered. He rolled down the side of the hill and landed in dirt. He coughed at the dirt he kicked up then jumped up. "Come out!!" Krycek reached into the glove compartment and pulled out a gun. "What?!" Krycek got out of the car with the gun and took a shot at Mulder. Mulder ducked behind a tree to avoid the bullet. "You son of a bitch!" Mulder called from behind a tree. "You stole my wife, you fucker!" He reached his arm out from the tree and shot at Krycek. "She's not your wife!" Krycek took cover behind the shack. "She's my fiancee!" "You don't deserve her!" "I love her!" "You killed her brother!" "I wouldn't have to if you didn't come into our lives!" "Bullshit!" Krycek fired 3 shots in a role. Mulder followed his impulse and fired back at Krycek. Krycek pulled open the door to the shack and dove in. The bullets all hit the door of the shack. Inside, he found Spender in a corner loading a gun. "Jeff, listen to me." Krycek said. "You have to get out of here." "Without you?" "Without me." Krycek said. "There's a chance that I might not make it out of here alive. Someone has to make sure that Mulder won't touch any members of the Scully family. I want you to get in the Jeep and drive away." "But-" "NO BUTS!!!" Krycek bellowed. "Just do it! Go before he sees you!!" Spender nodded. "Mulder!" He heard a voice calling outside. He froze. It was Scully. "Shit!" He peered outside a window. Scully had rolled down the side of the hill and was running towards Mulder. "Scully, get away!" Mulder yelled. "Mr. Mulder! Ms. Scully!" Another voice called. Marielle rolled down the hill after Scully. "It's Julie Marielle, the-" "I KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!!!" Mulder and Scully screamed at the same time. "Dana, go back!" Krycek yelled from inside the shack. "Alex!" Scully ignored what he said and ran towards the shack. "Scully, damn it, get back here!" Mulder called. She ignored him and kept running. "Scully!!" Mulder raised the gun and cocked it. "Dana, get down!" Krycek shouted towards her. Scully froze and was just about to duck when Mulder squeezed the trigger. Everything that happened in the next 3 seconds seemed to take forever. The bullet slowly exited the chamber and the gun and made a loud pop. The bullet traveled slowly towards Scully through the air. The bullet made contact with the skin on Scully's back. Scully began to fall. She hit the floor slowly and blood began to pour out of the bullet wound. "Dana!!!" "Scully!" Mulder gasped, realizing what he had done. Krycek dashed outside the door to Scully. "Dana!!" He knelt down besides her and touched her face. "Don't touch her!!" Mulder screamed as he raised his gun again. "Oh, my god!" Marielle screamed and rushed to Scully as well. "Julie, don't come any closer!" Krycek looked up and warned Marielle. Too late. Mulder pulled the trigger again. The bullet made its mark on her chest and she dropped to the ground. "UGH!!" Mulder grunted and aimed his gun again. Krycek raised his gun and shot at Mulder. The bullet missed him but was enough to make him go back behind the tree. "Mulder!" Krycek jumped up and dashed towards Mulder behind the tree. "Come on, Mulder! You want to kill me? Here's your chance!" Mulder jumped out from behind the tree and tackled Krycek to the ground. "Bastard!" Mulder screamed as he beat down on Krycek. Krycek elbowed Mulder in the face and pushed him away. Mulder landed on his butt and whipped out his gun. Krycek kicked the gun out of Mulder's hand. "You want a fight?! Then make it fair!" Krycek kicked Mulder in the stomach. Mulder groaned then grabbed Krycek's foot. He tripped Krycek down and jumped up himself, stomping his foot down on Krycek. Krycek rolled away in time. He got up a few feet away from Mulder and stared at him. The 2 men stared at each other for a long time in silence. Neither realized how close they stood to the edge. The edge of a very steep slope, nearly a straight line. And at the bottom of the slope was a rapid. The Jeep that had stood so silently during all this time suddenly roared to life. "Fuck!" Mulder turned to the Jeep to see who was getting away. Krycek didn't give him a chance. He headbutted Mulder to the ground. The Jeep kicked up dust as it speeded away. Mulder pushed Krycek away and attempted to run after the Jeep. "Shit!" Mulder kicked the ground angrily. He turned back and glared at Krycek. "What's the matter? Afraid that whoever got away will tell people who you killed?" Krycek said. "It would ruin you, wouldn't it?" "You... are going to die." Mulder swung his right fist at Krycek's head. Krycek avoided it easily by tiliting his head to the side. Krycek punched Mulder in the stomach and sent him down on the ground groaning. Krycek kicked him over and over again. "C'mon, you bastard!!" Krycek yelled. "You hit women, are you man enough to hit men?" "Fuckhead." Mulder grabbed Krycek's foot and swept Krycek to the ground. He raised his fist and punched Krycek's nose. Blood trickled from Krycek's nose. Krycek fought back, bruising Mulder's cheeks with a right hook. "Get up, wimp!" Krycek snarled as he jumped up. Mulder pulled himself off the ground and stood inches away from Krycek. Mulder made the first move, bringing his leg up for a sidekick to Krycek's gut. Mulder's foot made its target and sent Krycek staggering backwards into a tree. Mulder took a few quick steps up, pulling his arm back. Krycek step to the side and Mulder's fist made impact instead with the tree. "Ow, damn it!" Mulder muttered as he rubbed his fist. Krycek seized the opportunity to push Mulder. Mulder lost his balance and flew back wildly towards the edge. He slipped down and over the edge. Just as Mulder felt air rushing past him, a hand grabbed his hand. Krycek was leaning over the edge, saving his life. "I can kill you right here." Krycek grunted as he held on to Mulder. "Why don't you?" "Because of her." Krycek said. They both knew who her was. "She loved you and I'm pretty sure she still does. If I kill you, she'll hate me forever." "Okay." Mulder said. "Pull me up." Krycek leaned back and dragged Mulder back onto the ground. With one great pull, both men were both sitting on solid ground. Mulder panted as he sat near the edge, looking over and down at the rapids below. Mulder slowly stood up and as he did, he offered a hand to Krycek. Krycek looked at the hand hesistantly for a moment. Then decided to accept it. Mulder pulled Krycek off the ground and firmly shook his hand. "Giving up?" Krycek asked. "Yeah." Mulder nodded. "She loves you. I know it. Do you love her?" "With all my heart." Krycek smiled. "Hmm. Good." Mulder's eyes suddenly widened in shock. "SCULLY!!" He cried as he looked past Krycek. Krycek quickly spun around, wondering what has happened to her. He turned around and saw Scully in the same position she was before and realized that he has been tricked. Too late. Mulder grabbed Krycek and pushed him towards the edge. Krycek fell straight off. Mulder leaned over the edge and watched his body fall. Mulder wasn't the only one witnessing it. Scully saw it too. It was just like her dream. Krycek was pushed over the edge. And at the bottom, there was a sickening crack accompanyed with the sounds of the river flowing. She wanted to help him. But her back hurted like hell and she couldn't move. She couldn't even talk. Mulder watched Krycek's body hit the bottom and turned back. He kneeled down by Julie Marielle and examined her. "Still alive?!" She heard Mulder said in amazement. The next thing she heard was gun shot. Mulder had put a bullet through Marielle's head to seal her death. Then she blacked out. + + + + + + ***END OF PART 8***
